Business Plan Lesson 3 - 12th Grade Economics



Product Description

Anticipatory Set (10 min)
The instructor will place a product produced by a major well-known brand in front of the room.  The instructor will ask the students to take 2 minutes and think about words to describe the product.  The instructor will ask the students to answer the question and place the answers on the board.

Direct Instruction (10 min)
The instructor will ask the students to take out their business plan directions simultaneously showing them on the projector.  The instructor will discuss the necessary elements to complete the Product Description for the Business Plan.  The instructor will ask if there are any questions.

Guided Practice (30 min)
The instructor will place the students in groups of two.  The instructor will give each group a product created by a major company.  The students will have 15 minutes to develop a product description to be completed on a separate piece of paper and submitted to the instructor.  The instructor will ask each group to provide their product description to the class.

Independent Practice (1 min)
The instructor will remind the students of the completion date for the Product Description section of the Business Plan.

Checks for Understanding
The students will submit the Product Description to the instructor on the specified date.  The instructor will review the Product Description for errors or omissions and meet with each individual or group to discuss changes for the final version.
